JULY 06, 2010

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Limerick will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at 6:45 p.m., at the Limerick Community Centre, 175 Highway No. 620, in the Township of Limerick, under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13, as amended.

Location of the Subject Lands

The proposed Zoning By-law applies to all lands in the Township of Limerick, so a key map is not provided with this notice.

Purpose and Effect of the Zoning By-law

The proposed Zoning By-law is a new Comprehensive Zoning By-law for the Township of Limerick. The Zoning By-law is intended to implement the objectives and policies of the Official Plan of the County of Hastings, and provides a legal way of managing land use and future development in the Township. The By-law deals with matters such as how land may be used, where buildings and other structures can be located on a property, the types of buildings and structures that are permitted, lot sizes and dimensions, parking requirements, building heights, and setbacks from streets and shorelines.

The Zoning By-law sets out definitions for terms used in the By-law, a range of general zone provisions, and zone provisions for specific zone categories such as Rural Residential, Limited Service Residential, Waterfront Residential, Rural Commercial, Recreation/Resort Commercial, Rural Industrial, Community Facility, and other zone categories.

Upon its final approval, the proposed By-law will be a Comprehensive Zoning By-law for the Township of Limerick, and will replace the existing Zoning By-law No. 3-80 of the Township of Limerick.

Representation

The purpose of the open house on May 29, 2010 was to provide an informal opportunity for the public to review the proposed Zoning By-law and discuss the By-law with municipal representatives.

Any person may attend the public meeting on July 6, 2010 and make written and/or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed Zoning By-law.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of Limerick before the By-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Township of Limerick to the Ontario Municipal Board.
