OBJECTIVES:

1. To promote and protect the interest of cottagers on Limerick Lake, St. Ola Lake, Mephisto Lake, and the connecting waterways.

2. To work with Limerick Township, Hastings County, and the Province of Ontario in the interests of our members.

3. To promote the mutual assistance of our members and to enhance social relationships among our members and others.

4. To protect the environment, water quality, and general quality of cottage life for our members. 

MEMBERS' BENEFITS:

News and Information -

a twice-yearly newsletter full of useful information

• a lake map showing cottage location and civil address comes with your membership

• pamphlets on lead-free fishing, safe environmental products, and other items of interest to cottagers

Environmental Activities -

• we monitor our water quality through participating in an Ontario government water sampling program and have done so for over 30 years.

• volunteers participate in the Canadian Lakes Loon Survey

• we monitor threats to our environment like purple loosestrife, zebra mussels, and others

Social Activities -

• everyone is invited to our annual picnic and barbecue with canoe races and a children's fair

Meetings -

• all cottagers are invited to our annual general meeting held on the July 1st weekend

• we have presentations on timely topics like water use, purple loosestrife, forestry operations, etc.

• members of council report on activities of the township council and are open for questions and discussion with the cottagers

• there is also time for questions and discussion for cottagers

Services -

• we have a portable fire pump and hose at a central location available to all cottagers

• there is an informational bulletin board for cottagers at Limerick Lodge Marina store

Political Activities -

• we work to protect our area from over-development through appearances at the Ontario Municipal Board and other elected bodies

• we monitor the activities of our local township council and represent our members around issues like a new zoning by-law

• we respond to local initiatives like the Ministry of Natural Resources' consultation on the future of the St. Ola dam

The Association -

• the Board of Directors comprises 15 members and meets 3 times a year plus volunteering for the annual picnic and barbecue

• To provide for continuity each Director serves a three-year term, with five directors retiring each year

• directors are eligible to be re-nominated and elected for additional terms

• elections take place at a general business meeting on the July holiday weekend

• membership is open to anyone who pays annual dues of $50.00
